Watermelon peel compote for the winter

The recipe will appeal to those housewives who like to use products as efficiently as possible. Compote from watermelon peels can be prepared literally "out of nothing", and at the end you can get a delicious refreshing drink. Such compote can be prepared either directly for immediate serving or rolled up for the winter.

Ingredients

Cooking process

step 1 out of 5
It is advisable to use watermelon rinds on which there is still a small amount of pulp - the taste of the finished compote will be more pronounced. Cut off the coarse green skin from them, cut into small pieces. Rinse the lemon with hot water, cut into slices, remove the seeds.
step 2 out of 5
Place prepared watermelon peels and lemon mugs in a saucepan. Fill with water in the specified amount. We put on the stove and bring to a boil.
step 3 out of 5
From the moment of boiling, cook the compote over low heat for five to six minutes to soften the crusts. At the end of cooking, add granulated sugar, dissolve it, boil for another minute or two and remove from the stove.
step 4 out of 5
Wash the jar and lid and sterilize in any way possible. Put slices of watermelon peels and lemon mugs in a clean jar using a slotted spoon. Then pour in the remaining liquid. We roll up the compote with a lid, turn the jar upside down to check the tightness.
step 5 out of 5
Let cool. We put it in a cool dark place for storage. If you plan to serve the compote without rolling, then let the hot compote cool, strain and serve.
Bon Appetit!
